“they locked themselves
into that cage
they threw the key
was their dark age”
lyrics
It seems that I can't see anything that shines within
(Everything's under the earth)
I’m giving up, so give me what you are offering
But, in the end I don’t want a rope around my neck
(Like that man had before)
Before I could realize where i was my hands were tied so tight
Life, a flying vessel floating through a final wasteland
A game with no goal nor price
Play the pawn without the board of life to fall on
No one will save you here and if you hope for them to come
You'll be smashed by this nightmare
Draw your sword, soak her now
In the blood of those who hurt you
Show them no mercy and now you’ll be
Their nightmare you’ll be invincible
My body cannot hold this truth
I beg you, help me get back on my feet again
Life, a flying vessel floating through a final wasteland
A game with no goal nor price
Play the pawn without the board of life to fall on
I’m chained, no longer scared, roads are closed now
This is the price to pay, for escaping, now
My life is not the same, I don’t want to have it back
I live surrounded by an enormous lie
Black man, lightless eyes, I’m betraying me
Fix my pointless mind, by chaining it to your side
Control my restless soul
Let me be like you
A black man against the faith
Without fear and full of hate
Life, a flying vessel floating through a final wasteland
A game with no goal nor price
Play the pawn without the board of life to fall on

If someone were to ask me why I love progressive rock, this album would be one of my examples. It's eclectic; it's beautiful; it's sufficiently complex; and its cover art is cool. Soul Doubt does one hell of a great job of reprising the album's themes and building atmosphere and emotion throughout the >100 minute affair. And the cherry on top of it all is that there are no middling or superfluous songs--which is impressive because double albums usually have some amount of filler.
Magnifico!

Fantasy progressive rock is not something I'd ever thought of. Yet Foreign Land, especially the Foreign Land track itself, transported me straight into an unknown, magical fantasy world. Hakim Zulkufli
